BANDUNG - The increasing aircraft movement at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (SHIA) has caused the need for a new runway to be quite urgent. PT. Angkasa Pura II (Persero), as the airport operator, makes the construction of Runway 3 SHIA a top priority.
The existence of runway 3 with dimensions of 3,000 m x 60 m can be an alternative when runways 1 and 2 are closed due to maintenance so that SHIA operations are not disrupted. NSE carried out the Detailed Engineering Design (DED) of Runway 3 airside facilities in 2016.
In general, the scope of work for NSE is the design of geotechnical, airside pavement, drainage, AFL (Airfield Lighting), perimeter road, and other supporting facilities. Runway 3 of SHIA, which operated in 2019, is expected to increase aircraft movements from 81 movements to 114 movements per hour, both take-off and landing.
NAM Air Boeing 737-500 commercial aircraft with flight number IN181 and carrying 118 passengers and four cabin crew made its first landing successfully on Runway 3 of SHIA on Thursday, August 15, 2019, at around 09.20 WIB. In addition, on Thursday, January 14, 2020, the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, inaugurated the operation of four SHIA facilities, one of which is runway 3, which NSE designed. With the construction of Runway 3 at SHIA, it is expected to increase aircraft movement, speed, and service to passengers and make SHIA able to compete at the top level of international airports.
